have you all not seen any fights in the nhl.....ever??

have you all not seen any fights in the nhl.....ever??

the difference I personally see with Tom Wilson is the 2 players didn't square up, Wilson was hitting him and hugging him before the player was even aware of what was happening, then body slamming him. I think the hit was absolute BS, his history of these events says he should have been suspended at the least. I've seen less dangerous hits or action get suspended. Edit: plus the player he slammed was injured and wont be back for the rest of the season. Edit2: I respect your opinion and I didn't downvote you.

Ok a more relevant comparison: scrums from 2021 https://youtu.be/pwDJCdKe9GY Again, multiple people falling to the ice, helmets coming off, punches, sticks, skates flying around everywhere

nightshift31

I'm honestly not sure what that video is supposed to show us. Edit the first clip of the canucks player putting his arms up and was attacked from behind, the Winnipeg player #24 forbert should have been fined for that too.

captainstevehiller

That these dangerous situations happen all the time, people need to either recognize it and call for change regularly or stop being outraged just bc it's tom Wilson

nightshift31

that wasn't a dangerous situation it was a wrestling match that the second player wasn't asking for. to be clear the scrumb before wilson stood up isn't in the conversation only his body slam and punches while the man was face down and then almost sitting on him. remember Todd Bertuzzi, he sucker punched someone and a dog pile happened. I'm not going to ague who broke moores neck the punch or the dog pile, the point here is Todd threw 1 punch and his career never recovered, wilson just boday slammed and continued to hit him causing a season ending injury, and getting a slap on the wrist.

captainstevehiller

Todd bertuzzi suckered the guy because he refused to fight after a dirty hit. I fully expect Tom to get challenged tomorrow and will be disappointed if he refuses

nightshift31

"suckered the guy because he refused to fight" Oh boy Todd was completely in the wrong start to finish, back it the day you answered for your bad hits and Moore skated away, Moore still needed to answer for his dirty hit (old nhl player code) just not in the way it happened, wilson suckered this player 4 times, and the player didn't even do anything. it was a standard scrum around the net.

captainstevehiller

When Moore skated away that should've been the end of it, bertuzzi lost it and crossed the line. I still believe in players policing themselves though and I expect the rangers to challenge Tom tomorrow and I hope he accepts the fight

nightshift31

yes i said "Todd was completely wrong" Tom shouldn't even be playing the game to get challenged tomorrow night, it what im getting at. both plays resulted in a injured player, both injured players were sucker punched, here is a example from the other end of the players safty. Alexander Elder (canucks) got a 2game suspension last week for an accidental knee on knee with zero history of anything wrong in the nhl. 16 years ago he had another accidental knee playing for Sweden for what ever Olympics he was in. the player hit returned to play. the first game back Edler was challenged to a fight to answer for his hit, elder has never been in a fight his whole career but he took it. Why did a accidental knee with no injury get a suspension with no nhl history? Edit: I'm not intending to change your opinion, just talking it out with you from our side, as you may not fully understand why we crazy lol, i also didn't understand how you are ok with his not being suspended but we are talking more and I'm understanding you points more. I still dont agree but i get it now.

jralll234

You don’t see a difference? Wilson attacked a guy who was face down on the ice, then body slammed a significantly smaller man who was trying to stop him from continuing to attack his teammate. This was not two guys squaring off and fighting with the end result being one getting thrown down. The guy is a joke and Caps fans should be embarrassed.

captainstevehiller

He deserved a fine or a game for punching buchnevich while he was down, I have no issue with throwing panarin around

nightshift31

So you just said he deserves a suspension, That's literally our entire argument. LMFAO

captainstevehiller

Only for the punch, not for handling panarin. I think a fine is appropriate, a suspension would've been excessive in my opinion but I wouldn't complain if it was only 1 game

You got my upvote. We’ll both get downvoted, but it’s true!
