Lost-NotFound

wheres the wild bundle? its not offered to me.

Tacotomato89

Hey, heard about the certain legendary within youe fist 10-packs of any expansion. Is there some way to check whether or not this has been collected? I opened a couple of packs left over from earlier, as well as some from missions most expansions when I recently returned. Unfortunately I have no memory of which I got legendaries from and which I didn’t.

TestDoNotDownvote

Long time player that hasn’t played in almost a year, and thinking about coming back to standard. Have about 25k dust saved. What are some fun, but still competitive decks right now?

DawsonJr

Depending on your preferences and what you consider fun, these may tickle your fancy: variations of secret paladin, variations of rush and control warrior, and face hunter, to name a few. Overall, they are decently solid decks.

raiderjaypussy

Haven't played since the introduction of uncraftable cards, is there a way to search for only craftable cards I can disenchant?

Athanatov

For excess cards, type 'extra'. Otherwise you're gonna have to sort for the expansions bottom left.

thatawkwardkidlsr

Okay actually new frog here, f2p and still pretty clueless. Did a bunch of solo adventures, unlocked all heroes, did all of book of mercenaries and started book of heroes and am halfway through ashes so I have an ok grasp of mechanics I think? But tried to play my first games against people and holy fuck, gotten rolled maybe 10/10 games, only saying maybe because idk how many I’ve played but I’ve lost every one. Will say my only knowledge of HS is from watching old Forsen stuff, but I know those decks and shit aren’t even a thing anymore until I unlock classic format. So I guess does anyone have tips for beginners with not a lot of cards? Tried looking up deck builds but have like 5/30 cards recommended for most. Not trying to pay because as of right now this is just something I play when work is slow or when I have my iPad when pooping lmao. Any advice is appreciated

IPonderosa

Did you go through the apprentice ranks yet? There are lots of resources in the form of packs in there. I’d say craft 1 deck and go from there. Currently the king of the ladder is face hunter which mabkrik is the only legendary, which you also happen to get for free. That is a good deck to craft and climb with. Next in line is death dh which has 2 legendaries you have to craft although you can probably do without nzoth. Rush warrior is also fantastic, only rokara is a legendary in the deck that needs dust, although there are a few epics. Not sure what the unlock requirements are for core set but if you need to get to level 10, dungeon runs are fairly good

DawsonJr

I daresay that's likely the budget version for hunter, correct? I think the optimal one usually runs [[Barak Kodobane]] and [[Rinling's Rifle]]. Also, I'm guessing the optimal rush warrior runs [[Blademaster Samuro]], [[E.T.C., God of Metal]], [[N'Zoth, God of the Deep]], [[Overlord Saurfang]], and [[Ringmaster Whatley]]. Still good, solid advice you gave - just pointing out that there are more legendaries in those decks than you may be aware. ;)

Iskari

I tried the new player experience myself when I created an alt account for mainly Battlegrounds, here's something I noticed in terms of stuff people make basic mistakes in: 1) Tempo. Think your moves in a way that gives you a board advantage. If you have the option of playing a card for draw for example or playing a minion, play the minion. 2) Value trading. Kill off minions in a way your minion lives. If that is not possible, the enemy minion is non-threatening and you don't have a higher value minion on board you need to protect, go face. You're essentially playing "curvestone" aka the player who gains early board advantage can snowball to victory. 3) Don't coin hero power turn 1 (I actually saw people do this as mage and hunter). 4) Mulligan. Ditch everything that isn't 1-2-drops. You can keep a 3-drop if you already have a curve for the first two turns. 5) Deckbuilding. Pick Hunter or Demon Hunter. Both are aggressive classes so jam in a strong minion based start juiced with some burn to finish them off (like Unleash the Hounds, Weapons, damage spells etc.) Try to make your deck have a fair bunch of 1-3-drops some 4-5 mana cards and max one or two each from there upwards. It doesn't hurt much to have some strong 6-8 mana cards in Aggro but keep their amount low and don't put them in if they're not excellent. 6) Good luck, have fun! Edit: 7) Don't use your damage spells on their face before you have lethal, you don't want to show them you're about to kill them. Exception to this is the Hunter 3-mana deal 5 if you have a beast, in case you don't have a way to get a beast on board later it might be better to use when you can guarantee the extra dmg.

DirtySlateThrowaway

Generally Demon Hunter is a good class on a Budget. I would recommend checking out OldGuardian on YouTube for some good f2p / budget deck lists

Mountain_Druid

***Spell Damage +X*** does not increase Priest Shadowform Hero Power damage, correct? I tried this on one game and just want to make sure that it is like so.

SpookyGhostbear

Correct, a Hero Power is not a spell. Cards that affect hero power will specify them specifically, such as [[Fallen Hero]] or [[Wildfire]]. Also if you hover/long press on a card, a little tooltip will come up to remind you what bolded words mean. Generally, Spell Damage will also update the spell's text in real time, denoted by asterisks and likewise Hero Power damage will alter the Hero Power text, if applicable. The only card where this fails (that I know of) is [[Shield Slam]].

Face Hunter vs Shaman tips?

Iskari

If you fail to get an answer here, try r/Competitivehs daily Ask threads. User base is on average much more knowledgeable there when it comes to piloting.

Jeyjeyp

Thanks for the suggestion :)

Creative_Department7

Hey! I'm not technically a newbie but i'm just not that good and I've been F2P ever since it came out (except i have all the solo adventures). Anyway i stopped playing for a long time, because I got tired of dealing w/ new cards and metas that meant i had to buy packs, but then picked it backup with Battlegrounds which I love. Then i started playing Duels which I also love. I think it's just because I don't have a ton of cards that you build decks around. Anyway. I recently tried a Murloc Shaman in Wild and I actually got all the way to Silver 2 so far with it. But now I am kind of stuck. Should I just keep on trying the Murloc Shaman or should I try something different? I have gotten killed by a few really annoying and fast decks like Pirate Warrior or some Druid with pirates, a Secret Mage, and some new card draw Priest. I tried Handbuff Paladin but I don't have enough of the cards. I would probably just give up and go back to Duels but I'm realizing I have to try the ladder if I want some packs! Open to ideas. Also I usually play on my phone. But maybe I should try the computer w/ a deck plugin? Am I at a big disadvantage without one? Is there a way I can somehow show people what cards I own and someone could give me some advice on what decks I could craft? I have been looking up decks and copying/pasting the code but it's really slow going to figure out what i have that is actually in the decks and which cards are crucial. You'll laugh but i really really wanted to play Pogo Rogue and I did but i couldn't get past like Bronze 3. Just requires perfect RNG.

Iskari

Murloc Shaman is a top-notch Aggro deck and a solid Tier 2 performer in Wild right now. It should get you to Legend and beyond. Do keep in mind, if you have been away for a while it might take some time getting used to playing around certain board clears, how to mulligan and what line to take vs. certain archetypes. You should be about even or favored vs. Mages, crush OTK decks, lose to Priests and are at a disadvantage vs. Handbuff and Pirate Warrior. Like for example vs. Secret Mage you only usually lose to Flakmage so getting your minions above 2, preferrably to 5 health helps. And play smart with your Underbelly, even if you get clerad he alone can bounce you right back in it. If you install tracker from Hsreplay.net on your computer you can also upload your collection and share it. Just in case, here's a recent solid Murloc Shaman list. If you don't have Flurgl, craft it asap. And stay off the bunnies, they're not good for your mental health. ### Murloc Shaman - Wild Meta Snapshot - Jun. 9, 2021 # Class: Shaman # Format: Wild # # 2x (0) Murloc Tinyfin # 2x (1) Murloc Tidecaller # 2x (1) Murmy # 2x (1) Spawnpool Forager # 2x (1) Toxfin # 2x (2) Crabrider # 1x (2) Firemancer Flurgl # 2x (2) Ice Fishing # 2x (2) Lushwater Scout # 2x (2) Rockpool Hunter # 2x (2) South Coast Chieftain # 2x (2) Underbelly Angler # 2x (3) Murloc Warleader # 2x (3) Nofin Can Stop Us # 1x (4) Old Murk-Eye # 2x (7) Everyfin is Awesome # AAEBAaoIAqjuA+AFDtugBKugBMqrA5XwA7WYA5HkA4vOApToA53CArPoA4yUA6cI3ewDvxcA # # To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone

malafar

It is better to craft Tenwu of the Red Smoke to complete a Secret Rogue deck, or 2x Sethekk Veilweaver for a Priest deck?

Yejakas

How do you define better? Do you prefer to play Rogue or Priest? Do you have another deck you can play on ladder or is completing the Secret Rogue a priority? Priest is probably the stronger deck if you can afford it, but you also have to like the particular control playstyle. Sethekks are currently in most Priest lists, but Tenwu is a staple in every Rogue deck besides Weapon Rogue and it will stay that way unless Blizzard introduces a REALLY good incentive to not play Jandice/Kazakus/Alexstasza later this year. TLDR: You can't go wrong, pick what looks more fun to you. I'd personally go with Tenwu since I believe him to be a better investment, but Sethekks are cheaper and there's less remorse if you don't like them.

soscurious

For those with experience playing alignment/miracle druid: What's the best time for me, as a Rogue, to play Neophyte against you?

Nate_tis

is Mozaki otk mage actually a good deck? is libram paladin still good in standard?

Iskari

Mozaki is a good deck in Wild at least.

_L_-

I saw something about mercenaries. What is it? New gamemode?

paoloking

Yes, new upcoming game mode. It should be released in this expansion cycle so release announcement maybe next month (with new expansion announcement).

YearsofTerror

Do we have any hints to how it’ll work?

paoloking

no exact details yet but some hints about features in screenshots here https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/nw8w9o/some_guy_on_twitter_was_taking_a_marketing_survey/

Turbulent-Arrival845

wtff that biscuit spell card on Mage class is op lol im done for a month or least the next update

CarSuperFast

Not OP, over 1200 wins with mage, Reno/secret mage beats that deck now. I would used to lose to them about 60% of the time. That deck you talk about is basically dead, the only people that keep that deck are people that made it and are too poor to make new decks.

dbuck79

Should i get the mini set or the 20 barrens packs?

SpookyGhostbear

Miniset is excellent value for most, but the answer depends on how many packs you have opened so far: - If you've opened none and are low on Gold, buy packs. This is so you have a base to start building decks with. While the miniset is excellent value, it doesn't give enough help to set a foundation. - If you've opened none but have enough gold to buy miniset and some packs, buy miniset first. This is because buying the miniset will activate the duplicate protection on the miniset cards and focus your packs on the initial expansion. - If you've opened close to 50 packs, meaning you have most of the initial set's commons and rares, buy the miniset. This is because you've hit diminishing returns and the miniset is just superior gold-to-dust ratio in every sense. If you don't think you fit into these general categories and still aren't sure, be sure to let me know what your situation is and we can take a deeper dive.

dbuck79

Wow thank you for the write up! So I’ve probably opened around 25-30 packs I’d say, so it seems like the mini set maybe best?

SpookyGhostbear

In your shoes, I would. Although you haven't opened too many packs, there are 2 months of rewards and tavern brawls to shore up the difference. Start saving gold for the next expansion once you get the miniset. Alternatively if you're really worried about not having enough gold for the next expansion (5-7k is a good start), you can hold off on your purchase a bit longer and see how the cards are impacting the meta.

ahmedgermanotta

I'm not a newbie but I need advice with my collection. I have a lot of wild cards and I'm debating wether or not I disenchant them to truely experince standard to it's fullest

Athanatov

The vast majority of cards that go to Wild can't keep up with the power level. I just keep good cards and good memes and toss the rest. Still able to play any Wild deck I want.

RainbowDissent

I dust all Wild cards and I've never regretted it. I have enough of a dust and gold economy to craft pretty much whatever deck I like in Standard. For me, it's very enjoyable to see a new deck become meta and immediately have every card for it, or to be able to craft meme decks, janky homebrews or unusual streamer / YTer lists whenever I like. I think the only meta deck that I don't own the cards for is Control Warlock, as I don't have Tickatus. That said, it has permanently locked me out from Wild - it would cost a small fortune to put together a decent Wild collection from scratch, and I couldn't do it alongside maintaining a (near-) complete Standard collection. I don't mind - I genuinely don't have any interest in Wild and don't think I ever will, but if there's a chance you'd want to play it in future, hold off because you can't undo it.

HeatFireAsh

I'd suggest looking up some good wild decks and then only disenchanting cards that aren't in then. If you you ever want to play wild its harder to get all the old cards so not disenchanting is best but if you must do it try not to get rid of the good ones.

SpookyGhostbear

There are some people who regret it and some people who don't. I think a fine half-way measure is just to dust some of the weaker cards that haven't ever seen play, and leave the good ones or deck cornerstones alone. This opens up the option to play a few solid wild decks if you ever change your mind. Wild is actually cheaper than people think so you don't need to hoard your entire collection to be relevant. Most of the top decks function perfectly fine with 1-3 legendaries. Personally I keep Wild around because it's a nice break from when the Standard meta gets stale - which is often given the small pool of cards. Given enough time into the game, you can accumulate enough to satisfy both ladders fairly well even as a free-to-play, though my perspective might be skewed because I profited a lot from hall of fame/nerfs over the years. I think the big question to ask yourself is what makes you stop enjoying the game? Not being able to play new decks you want, or going up against decks you don't want to play against. The former may benefit from an aggressive dusting strategy, while the latter may benefit from holding back a bit.

SrOkita

Does the Guaranteed Legendary in 10 first packs rule apply to Standard Packs and Wild Packs?

Mellowindiffere

Yes.

AdamTHEdefaultSKIN

wait. how does it apply? is it cards from expantions you have not gotten legendaries in, or is the packs considered its own "expansion"?

teh_drewski

Wild packs treat all of the Wild card pool as a single set for the purposes of duplicate protection and (probably) pack odds and minimum drops.

AdamTHEdefaultSKIN

I opened 10 packs right now and got [[Kalecgos]]

Mellowindiffere

Correct.

SrOkita

Nice

Teeniepepper

I know not a lot of people play this deck, at least not where I am in ladder, but I think there is something really off about the Druid mechanic that changes mana to one and all cards to one. It's fine if you want to be able to manipulate your own deck, but imo there shouldn't be a mechanic that so alters the way your opponent must play their deck. You shouldn't get to craft a deck perfectly suited for massive one mana plays and then force it on your opponent. Right?

SpookyGhostbear

Reading this comment reminds me of one of The Bazaar's videos on Interactivity in games. I might not be interpreting the content perfectly, but they would describe Celestial Alignment as a "zero-sum fun card". It's fun for the deck creator because it lets them do all their cool things, but it's not fun for the opponent because it also stops them from doing their things (often, not always). So +1 fun and -1 fun = 0. As a contrast, a "net-fun" card would be more like Luna's Pocket Galaxy, where you get to do your fun thing, +1 fun, but your opponent doesn't care, 0 fun, so +1 in total. Bazaar would believe that the latter can be less toxic because you're only ever meant to generate fun; You can simply build your own sandcastles and fight it out, rather than building your sandcastle but also kick over someone else's to do so. Meanwhile in Hearthstone, zero-sum fun scenarios seem to be okay to exist when they aren't super common or consistent. They want you to have highs and lows because it's instead believed that range of emotions is important. This is also why we have a fair amount of RNG in the game - they want you to feel the highrolls and the lowrolls. It may be frustrating to play through in the moment, but it is meant to be balanced out by the vindication you feel when their gameplan backfires and you get to punish them back for it. In the end, I don't think there's an absolute answer to which philosophy is right or wrong, and by extension, whether the card should or should not do what it does. For me, Celestial Alignment simply falls within my expectations for the game.

Sensitive-Arachnid

New player here, i got a bunch of legendaries. Is there an updated list of what legendaries are completely useless in the current meta which i could disenchant? I could only find outdated lists unfortunately.

Creative_Department7

All the ones I want to disenchant are "uncraftable" ;( I have had auto dust the extra cards turned on ever since Hearthstone came out. I just learned this week that i shouldn't do that and that sometimes you get extra dust for cards when they are nerfed? I don't know how people keep up with this. I never have enough dust to do anything but I am also nervous to dust anything because I prefer to play Wild.

Iskari

Do note that if a Legendary is useless now doesn't mean it can't be viable in the future. Many players lament dusting them off instead of building up their collection, when all of a sudden some support cards are printed and they rocket into a Tier 1 deck. Looking at that link posted before, there are a huge amount of legendaries in the Niche Tier 4 category I would never disenchant.

fioriX

I often use https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/card-discussion/205920-legendary-tier-list-crafting-guide Seems regularly updated

Athanatov

Good lord, that list is awful.

fioriX

What list are you using? I'd love to check out a better list

Athanatov

I'm not using a list. I just don't think you should recommend something that puts Soul Mirror in the same tier as King Krush. For lack of a better alternative, I'd just go to HSreplay cards and sort by popularity, then decide for myself what percentage should be the cutoff.

IAmA_T-Rex_AMA

How does Olgra, Mankrik's Wife interact with Tracking? Does it give you the spell in hand or does it function like the draw mechanic?

teh_drewski

The "Discover" word alone (from your deck) simply draws the card. "Discover a copy" adds directly to your hand I believe.

SpookyGhostbear

Last I checked it still functions like the draw mechanic so it'll summon her. It only doesn't work with Secret Passage.

IAmA_T-Rex_AMA

Thank you! Might have lost a game today because I thought it worked like secret passage.

A12C4

Where should I start? I'm coming back to hearthstone. Played classic Handlock when the game got released then took a break and came back to play Even Warlock before I stopped again. There is so much content now I don't know where to start. Played a few wild games with Even Warlock and some games solo but I don't enjoy much playing wild and the solo mode cost so much gold to get unlocked.

Iskari

If you enjoyed playing Evenlock, you could try Darkglare in Wild. The deck has about the same game plan, has a steep learning curve and, in adept hands, is the best deck in the format. You can find recent lists at [hearthstone-decks.net](https://hearthstone-decks.net) for example.

Thicc-waluigi

Well ranked wild can be kind of a shitshow at times so for more balanced games, I'd choose to play Standard. Thing is that it's a very expensive mode to play since cards always rotate while they stay in wild. They did however just make a change to the classic set where they have a new thing called the core set which gives you a combination of cards from previous sets and new ones all for free at the start of each year. That plus the new quest system makes it a lot easier to get new cards but it is still expensive. Right now Warlock isn't super powerful in Standard but it does see some play with some powerful control options which you might like based on your play history. You can do what Solem and Roffle do and just play fun decks in wild which can work but not if you want to climb ranks. Warlock has a ton of super broken decks in wild right now that will make you win on turn 5 consistently but there are also a lot of fun warlock decks to play in wild. I'd recommend watching some videos from Solem, Roffle, and Dane to get inspired and make your own fun to play Warlock deck. Solo content has been updated with the new book of heros stories where each hero gets their lore told through in-game battles. It's totally free so you should be able to do that just fine. You can also play one of the the new modes Battlegrounds or Duels. They totally change how you play so you may not like it but it's a suggestion. Duels is basically the Dungeon Run solo adventure but you play online against other people. Battlegrounds is an auto chess mode similar to TFT in League of Legends. There's also a new mode called Classic which is basically Hearthstone during the very first expansion. You played back then so you might still enjoy it. In conclusion it's totally up to you what you want to play, but as a wild player, I'd recommend it. It is a lot of fun to make decks with all the cards even if they aren't the best. Sorry for the long reply lol.

pigstrr

Why do none of the characters know how to say hi is there a way to make them say hi rather than what ever evil draws close means?

OneDay7a

That's just illidan being an edgy teenager. I play kurtrus instead.

NoelBlueRed

Just checking out Hearthstone again for the first time in like 6 years after getting an ipad, so pretty much coming in new. Have figured out the basics again and the differences between standard and wild. Am practicing with classic decks right now. Played with making my own and the outcome was truly hilarious. If I find I'm really enjoying the game, is the $34(US) Welcome bundle worth it? I'd love to play with newer cards, and 65 packs is awfully sexy. And will the offer run out or do I have time to play for a bit? Ty for any help!

athorist

The offer runs out eventually, but it was there for about a month

Thicc-waluigi

It stays forever I'm pretty sure and it's a very nice deal. Quite a bit of money but definitely worth it.

NoelBlueRed

That's great to hear tysm! I want to make sure I'll be playing for a while before investing, so that means I can take my time deciding.

Thicc-waluigi

Yeah. There have been a ton of different welcome bundles over the years but this one has stayed for a pretty long time now so I don't think it'll just up and disappear suddenly

paoloking

I am sure Welcome bundle is the best offer in HS.

NoelBlueRed

Thank you!!

Miudmon

Quick, relatively inconsequential battlegrounds question. The water droplets you get from Sellementals... do they count as, well, Sellementals for the purposes of removing a copy from the shop? Or is there, technically, infinite water droplets?

Iskari

No, they don't count as Sellementals. Once you sell it and get the droplet in hand the Sellemental returns to the pool. So technically the answer is yes.

cxou

are the cards from the year of the phoenix packs legal in standard?

paoloking

yes until first expansion of 2022 ( around 10 months more)

cxou

thanks :)

just got back on hearthstone after 8 months of inactivity. i have been getting shredded in wild by shaman and warlock. currently playing with a custom obelisk and galakrond deck for priest which are both about 50% win depending on the draw. however, i'm about 20% win against warlock and i have yet to win against shaman in about 20 trial ranked games. is it time to dump priest? edit: i can post deck if necessary

Iskari

Priest is in a bit of a pickle right now in Wild, since the new Stealerlocks tend to annihilate all archetypes and Darkglare isn't an easy matchup either. But you can still do well with Razakus. The stuff you mentioned probably don't carry you too far. What Shamans are you facing btw?

chicksdigscars1

Mostly Reno, and a few classic/midrange shamans. Some Murloc spam deck shamans as well, and a Warlock troll deck that forced me to draw cards until fatigue did me in. I'll continue with my obelisk deck, but my Galakrond deck was gutted (I have to wait until turn 5 or 6 to do any get any good synergy if the draw is bad) in favor of a Reno priest deck.

Foudzing

Galakrond Priest is considered too slow for wild. Obelisk can be played in a big/resurect Priest tho the deck is much better without it. Obelisk is very good in a resurect Priest where you stall by playing zilliax, khartut Defender, Convincing infiltrator and fill your opponent deck with shit with albatros, tunnel weaseler, or even Hakkar. Tho it is a troll deck.

willywonka159

Wild? If you want to win the best decks are Big and Reno. You’ll always be able to take games with homebrews, but they just aren’t going to be as competitive.

SpareManager

I want to know if a new expansion is coming or not so i know if i have time to grind to 100 reward level.

paoloking

New expansion will be released in cca 2 months. That is enough time to get lvl 100 just by doing daily and weekly quests.

SpareManager

Cheers.

Thicc-waluigi

To clarify on what the other guy said, a new expansion comes out every April, August, and December. It's pretty consistent so you never get surprised really when a new one is announced. A mini set will be released for the expansion about a month or two after that expansion is released but I don't think that's what you meant in the question.

xXDumbApe420Xx

Does that mean the Ashes of Outland cards will be rotating out?

Thicc-waluigi

Of course. Every year on April when the new expansion rolls around three old expansions rotate out (the past year's three expansions to be exact). So just like Rise of Shadows, Saviors of Uldum, and Descent of Dragons (year of the dragon) rotated out now, so will Ashes of Outland, Scholomance Academy, and Madness at the Darkmoon Faire (year of the phoenix) at next year's April when a new year of expansions start :)

xXDumbApe420Xx

I see. So they rotate out one at a time, so Ashes will be gone in August, Scholomance in December, and Darkmoon in April? And they introduce a new card set in each of those months?

Thicc-waluigi

No. All three sets rotate out in April when the first expansion of the new year comes out. That means that the april set always is in rotation for a longer period than the August and December sets.
