Does it worth crafting a deck around Death Speaker Blackthorn? Or it is better crafting a face hunter without the legendaries? I got the dh legend but don't have the rest, can I climb to legend with it? Did someone climb?with what deck? I'm really low in mana and can't craft any epics.
I think you can play with the cards you have until you gain some levels and open more packs. Once you do that you can decide which way you want to build. Unless you really want to play a competitive deck then you can just play secret pally or face hunter without the legendaries. It won’t be as good as the ones with legendaries but I mean you gotta do what you gotta do right?
If you are okay with spending money the new construction decks are going to be released on the 4th they’ll have one for each class containing their strongest decks in the meta atm. $20 You can buy a paladin or hunter deck. Maybe warrior might be a good buy as well.
At what time does the new patch release?
I just returned to Hearthstone for the first time since September last year and I noticed that I received the golden Jaina portrait. However, I’m 100% positive that I only had 350-400 wins on mage when I stopped playing. It now says I have 563 wins. Did Blizzard combine wild wins and standard wins for progress towards the golden portraits or am I losing my mind?
All Constructed, Arena and Duel wins counts.
Ah I see, thank you!!
How i can build my deck,i am a newbie and i can pass silver 5 since one month,is there any suggestion for crafting a good deck?
I cannot find using addons which i see on twitch
Hello, I have a few questions :)
[Which treasure should I choose?](https://i.imgur.com/NCmKVd7.jpg) I only have like one or two battlecry cards in the deck so it's between the last two treasures really.
How many weeks do you think I have left to save up gold until the next mini-set releases?
Also they cost 2k gold right?
I would shuffle spells into my deck.
We have probably 4 weeks until mini set and yes it will cost 2 000 gold.
Is control warlock viable in plat/diamond?
It's not hard to take it to Legend, but there are 8 classes that get you there with significantly less effort.
Yeah I got up to play 6 with secret paladin but warlock is my favorite class
The higher up you go, the worse control warlock performs. Probably not worth it if your goal is to hit legend.
Gotcha, I think I'll be sticking with paladin and mage for now
Not really, unless you are facing a lot of Priests.
Should I start a new account? My account is from 2014 and I played a lot during early Hearthstone. Fast forward to when Standard came out and most older sets became Wild cards, I did what most people did back then which was to disenchant all their old expansion Wild cards as most people saw Wild as a meme format and Standard was the cards you wanted. This means I disenchanted many very useful cards from the single player expansions that have more use case now. Many of the iconic OP cards like Reno Jackson, Loatheb, etc, every legendary, epic, rare, even commons were all Disenchanted.
My account has been inactive since the Death Knight themed expansion in 2017. This means not only do I not have all the best cards from early Hearthstone anymore, but I don't obtain any cards from the newest sets either. This has left me in a situation where my collection is a mess and I have to scramble together enough dust for 1, maybe 2 competitive decks.
TLDR: Should I start a brand new account so I can regain access to many older cards via buying and redoing the older solo expansions + all the new player packs the game throws at you now or should I keep my older account?
As someone who did the same thing a few months ago I feel you. When I started playing wild I had to re-craft a lot of the powerful adventure cards plus cards like Zilliax, bloodreaver gul’dan, etc. I would say keep the account if you’re planning to only play standard because you can just dust all the old cards (plus you get a free deck). If you’re planning on playing wild I would start a fresh account and purchase the adventures. Also don’t forget to claim frozen throne for the free death knight.
The apprentice ranks do give out a lot of packs but as a returning player you would get a free deck. It may be worth checking those to see if there are any that interest you and restarting if not.
New players get the deck too, he should reset
So as I am not technically a newbie, I hope this is the right way to ask. I've taken a 2 year break from the game, but as I will have more free time coming up I'd like to get back into the game. Just wondering the state of the game, I remember reading awhile back people were very unhappy with the game. Also any tips on where to start again to get some new cards! Thank you.
There are always going to be people unhappy about some aspect of the game, so it would be easier to ask, what are you looking for in order to have a good experience?
Meta-wise, Paladin is a dominant class but everything else has at least 1 viable deck to run with if they desire, with only Shaman struggling. There are control decks, aggro decks, midrange decks, AND combo decks, which means it's pretty diverse. Since you've been gone a while, you probably also never experienced the Demon Hunter class either.
Economy is fine, not great, not bad. Some old cosmetics are returning and available for gold for the first time as well. Dev communication is more frequent and balance changes are more frequent. We also get mid expansion mini-sets to inject more cards into the game more often to shake up the meta.
As a returning player, you should get a returning questline that will reward you with a full deck (with legendaries) one-time. There's also "battle-ready decks" that are actual meta decks and are going to be available for purchase soon as well.
Appreciate it! I'll probably start out with some of the story to get back into it, and possibly just play wild for awhile! Not too much competitive to start out.
Ah well Wild is a little bit less diverse right now. Mostly going to be OTK Mage and Reno Priest (I saw 30% and 20% of each class respectively last season). Then there's the usual disruptive stuff like Secret Mage, a new Tax Paladin archetype, a little bit of Mill Warlock. Aggro is.. Murloc Shaman, Darkglare Warlock, and a bit of Pirate Warrior.
I did still end up climbing to Legend with OTK Hunter though and that kept things enjoyable, since Hunter generally isn't a class you see in Wild.
Low rank wild is insanely diverse!
Tax pally is all but gone and replaced with handbuff, and what do you mean by mill warlock? tickatus?
Yeah I guess handbuff is the new hot thing now. I was still seeing a bit of Tax at the end up my run so figured it was still being run. And yes, I guess it's just regular Renolock with Tickatus.
If your enjoying the deck well enough sure, its not top of the meta but its serviceable, especially if paladin takes a nerf sometime soon. And its fine to disenchant cards, either find out what cards dont see play on https://hsreplay.net or you can pick a class your positive your not interested in and disenchant many cards from it, though for longevity I dont really recommend that
Do you get rewarded for playing the free version of duels?
No, you can still complete quests but there’s no reward at the end of a run
Oh that’s a shame:( I’ll finish my run then and start using my passes
Should I buy the tavern pass? I’m relatively new to the game and only play a couple of times a day. Should I get it or is it a waste of money?
If you don't play a lot you are better off buying a bundle. The last one ended about a week ago, so if you want to buy something I'd wait for the next one.
Unless you really want the hero skins, in which case it's buying the pass or bust.
If you like the skins then the pass is the only way to get them. If you only want the pass for EXP in order to earn more gold for packs, then you'll usually need to be a more frequent player to earn more than just purchasing packs regularly.
I want to get back into hearthstone but I've seem to have lost my main account. I also don't have access to the email adress attached anymore. Thing is, I do have acces to my alt-account. Just dont have that many cards there, but did get the come-back bonus. Now I was wondering if it would matter to invest the time to recover my main account or if I just might as well stick with my alt account. If i just want to play standard and arena anyway.
Hi, I'm trying to get back into hearthstone.
Is standard the mostly played ranked game mode?
Also can someone suggest a few decks for me to look at crafting that are fun/strong?
Standard and battlegrounds are both around equal popularity, depending on whenever new content drops for the modes. The strongest decks rn are secret/aggro paladin, rush warrior, and face hunter. More fun decks are control priest and control warlock, imo, but they’re not as good. I’d check [VS](https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-194/) or [HSReplay](https://hsreplay.net/?hl=en) for decklists
Should I disenchant any of these?
The lurker below
Sayge is a staple in wild secret mage (one of the top decks there) and might see play again in standard. Scabbs has big potential for the future. Tavish sees no play right now, not so sure about his potential. Brukan fuels a spell shaman list and I assume shaman will get good stuff in the miniset/next expansions.
Lurker below doesn't really see play and if it does it's mostly in costly control Shaman lists. Generally keep what you can for collection building and never dust anything unless you need the dust right at that moment.
How often do they nerf cards so I can hold cards for more dusts?
After an expansion, around 2-3 weeks, then about 1 1/2 months after an expansion, then a month after that *if any*, unless theres serious issues
In general you should just always hold onto cards and only dust when you need to, leaving obviously powerful cards alone. If I had to guess they usually nerf cards once or twice per expansion
add my battletag QuirkyOrc#1204187
Is it worth it now to buy the battlegrounds perks, or will the be going on sale anytime soon?
The perks get a 50% discount halfway through the expansion, which should be around late May. So it won't go on sale *that* soon, but soon-ish.
Hey I’m a returning player , I just wanted to ask if there’s anyway of knowing if i got a legendary from my first 10 packs of each expansion. I lost track on which packs i opened and which I didn’t, if there is anyway to know it will be great :). Thanks in advance
Edit: i also dusted a lot of legendary cards without knowing from which expansion i got them from.
Theres no way of knowing if you got the legendary, but there is a way to see if youve opened 10 packs total or not by using [firestone](https://go.overwolf.com/firestone-app/) on pc, just note this will also install overwolf
Is sparkjoycheat cheated out secret supposed to use up scabb cutterbutters second discount? I dont think so since I didnt play the secret, sparkjoy cheat played it.
Id guess that after fixing the bug where sparkjoy actually played two secrets, they accidentally assigned "you" to casting it rather than sparkjoy, so yeah id say definitely a bug but easily avoidable at least.
Why are the bonus rewards in the battle pass limited to only 300 times? 1500 gold is a lot, but why is there even a cap at that point?
To prevent people botting up hundreds of thousands of gold id assume. Also the limit is higher than ever possible on the old system so its a increase regardless
Getting into hearthstone and I was looking at the wiki to learn more and I found out about cthun. Acthun deck sounds cool but I have no idea how to get cthun cards. There's no old god packs in the shop and apparently cthun is uncraftable.
How do I build a cthun deck??
You get cthun and one support card in addition to when you buy your first pack from Whispers of the Old Gods. If you’re not able to play wild, you should be able to unlock it by reaching a certain rank (20-15 I think?) in the normal mode. Once it’s available you should be able to buy packs
Oh thanks. I'll try to unlock wild then.
Remember that you are guaranteed a legendary in your first 10 packs of each set, so maybe instead of exclusively buying WotOG packs, buy some of those, but also get the first few from each set until you get a legendary. And completing the KotFT first free mission will award you a legendary death knight card *on top of* the legendary you get from the KotFT packs. To unlock the the story for that, you do have to go to the Blizzard store and manually unlock the free part of the adventure. I believe this can be done from the battle.net shop but if not you can do it from the blizzard website.
Is there a limit on which sets the first 10 pack applies to? (super old sets, or a returning player who's opened older sets already)
Not that I know of? I just recently went back to buy Grand Tournaments packs for the first time and got a legendary in my first 10 if that helps reference at all.
Thanks. That's good advice
I’m starting the solo adventures and I am on the last part of “The Frozen Throne” facing the Lich King. I have found a lot of decks online but they are outdated due to this being so old. I was hoping to get any help with beating the lich king using any new card decks? Thank you!
I did it with this:

Not really much strategy, just try keep minions on board for turn 8 so you don't take like 15 damage in one turn from all the 2/6 dudes and after that you're golden, there's enough healing to be able to just smash his face in late game
Thank you! I'll let you know how it goes :D
I dont have a deck put together but id highly recommend priest, all he does is make you unable to emote, and you can run [[shadow word:horror]] to clear his board when he plays his weapon. An aggressive deck with murlocs or something is probably you best bet considering it seems like you wouldn't have the deathknight
I’ll try that! Thank you for the advice 🔥
Just know if you are doing murlocs it may take some attempts to get the proper hand to beat him, just dont get frustrated with it
Good to know! I’ve tried so many strategies so I’m open to anything at this point 🤣
Lol, yeah it can be tough, definitely took me a few attempts doing it with all classes when it first launched but im sure you can do it

Should I craft Tickatus or Tamsin? I can only craft one of them
If you want them in control warlock, Tick first and do Tamsin if you have more resource. Tamsin is nice to have but Tick with Mr.J is essential for control warlock

I'm a returning player who is looking to climb ladder. Would love to have company while I do it.
I prefer doing discord voice calls but okay with battle too but I sometimes switch to playing on the iPad.
If you're looking for company while climbing too, I'd love to watch and maybe help?
I'm silver 5 in classic and just made secret paladin + face hunter for standard and I also have zoo lock for classic. Would love to climb the ranks in either with some company.
I feel I do better when I have someone to talk to.
I'm paynebringer#2818 and I play on eu. We can also link up on discord and use the voice chat.
when and what card types should i be dusting? is it wasteful to buy packs without dusting extra cards first?
I don't particularly think it's a waste to buy packs without dusting extra cards. There are valid reasons to hoard cards. I do think it's a waste to buy packs in order to target specific epic/legendary cards you want though, especially if you're deep into diminishing returns.
It's usually not recommended to dust until you know exactly what you're building and that you're building it to fully complete a deck, rather than partially. Everyone has different priorities but just for reference, my priorities as a long-time player:
- **Any card that gets nerfed**: When a card is nerfed, you have 2 weeks to dust it for full refunds. Whether you continue to play with the card or not, you should be dusting them. This is not saying that nerfed cards are always bad, it's just always better to be opportunistic. If they happen to remain meta later on, you can recraft it at no loss.
- **Extra Golden Cards**: These are just cosmetic, but they are worth more dust. If you already have 2 copies of the regular cards, these can go. I do try to keep the cards that are likely to be nerfed though. Likely nerf targets can usually be identified as cards that highroll in the early game to make non-games, cards with excessively power levels beyond their cost, and cards that are complained about by high ranked players.
- **Extra Regular cards**: You don't need more than 2 copies of any given card. Again, I hoard cards that are likely to be nerfed.
- **Cards that don't fit my playstyle**: This takes more game knowledge and experience to know, but if for example you know you have a disposition towards only aggro decks, you probably don't need cards that are printed for gimmicky comboes.
As someone who used to played a very tiny bit of Hearthstone few years ago, I have been considering getting back into the game.
How easy it is for newer players to get into it? And how easy is it to craft viable decks while being F2P (or at the very least spending as less cash as possible)?
Finally, is the meta healthy with multiple competitive decks?
The apprenticeship experience at the very beginning can feel a bit long but it sets you up with a good number of packs and awards you with a choice of a pre-built deck that includes multiple epics and legendaries upon completion. If you make good choices for your first deck, then you should be able to climb well with it, if you're good enough of course. You'll still have to add cards to it to make it more competitive though.
Entirely viable to be free to play, but it takes time to build up the resources to run multiple decks per meta. We usually call the game pay-for-variety. Eventually though you will be able to keep up even as free to play, as long as you don't make too many wasteful decisions.
Current meta is somewhat healthy from a diversity perspective. There's 1 meta giant at the top (Paladin) but almost every class has a viable deck or two at around the same power levels outside of that. Paladin might be hit in about 2 weeks though so we'll see how that changes things.
For a recent insight on a fully free to play run experience, TrumpSC had a phenomenal performance with a Control Warlock deck that's normally considered Tier 3. He did get pretty lucky with his pack openings but it's just proof that skill can overcome minimal investment.
Good to hear. I have been playing a bit of LoR these days, but there was an itch to also play Hearthstone (given that some of the mechanics are pretty different). Might give it a try now, if I can find some time.
Might give it a try now if I can find some time.
Well if you play LOR then to set expectations: Hearthstone isn't quite as generous.
Haha, I am aware of that.
If anyone is new and wants to try out some decks, there is a "share deck" function that will let you borrow a friend's deck if you play against each other. Shoot me your battletag if you want to try out some decks or get to learn the game!
Well I added you and you accepted my request and then didn't say anything when I messaged you, I'll re-add you if you respond to this though.
oh sorry i didnt notice
When is the next miniset coming out? How much?
Around a month from now, and id assume the same price as the last one, being $14.99 USD or 2000 gold
Did anyone else get their pack from YouTube? or were we not supposed to get any ?
Just making sure which promotion you are asking for:
For Grandmasters, 2 are from watching week 1, but we only get 2 from the entirety of weeks 2 to 7. The final 2 will be earned from watching playoffs.
For the current Ogrimmar weekend, the rules say it'll take up to 48 hours after the conclusion to receive, so most likely we won't be seeing them until the work week starts, but I have no confirmation on this one.
Returning player here. Deciding which free deck I'll choose, watched some reviews in YT and it seems all decks are not competitive, so which has the best legendary value I can use to build competitive decks?
Is it worth it to play this game if I’m just using default decks? Playing with other people is so annoying cause their decks synergize and mine don’t.
Your goal with the default decks is to eventually build up enough cards to craft a “real” deck
Any tips to push past Gold 5? I'm currently running a mix of control warlock, libram and midrange paladin and I'm planning to craft a spell mage. Hunter, demon hunter and spell mage are giving me trouble, and warlock vs warlock feels like a race to play tickatus
Playing one deck and learning the ins and outs of different match ups for that one deck is what the climb is all about, even at diamond ranks. The more decks you play the less you get to learn about each deck and more likely you will make small errors that may make the difference between a close win and tough loss. You absolutely have to push those margins because even at no star bonus the swing is 2 stars, which is 10 games on a deck with 60% global win rate
At those ranks, it's really more about sticking to one deck and learning it thoroughly. Try not to divide your attention across so many different decks at first. Paladin is strong right now and has few counters, so you should be able to climb with it. If you're struggling, perhaps just revisit the basics with Trump Teachings Youtube series.
Is paladin likely to get nerfs soon? Don't know if I should stay with warlock or jump over to paladin
It's a very likely target for nerfs based on how dominant its winrates and matchup spread is, but devs have mentioned that they aren't really planning to do anything until maybe after the next tournament. For me, I would consider that plenty of time to climb with, but for others they may prefer to pivot to something else.
The more important question is which of your decks is most complete, meaning are you playing the best list available? A completed deck without suboptimal substitutions will make your first climb much easier. Now usually a completed bad deck is better than an incomplete good deck, however in this case I suspect that Paladin is so strong today that it might still be better to play a poor Paladin deck than a refined Warlock deck...because Warlock is really bad on average. A completed Warlock played well though can still succeed so I leave it up to you to judge which you'll have more fun with, but just know it will be a bigger challenge.
>but devs have mentioned that they aren't really planning to do anything until maybe after the next tournament
When exactly is this next tournament?
This weekend! The plan is for them to finish the tournament, discuss in the coming week, then implement changes the week after, if any. There should be a quote on Alec Dawson's Twitter that says this.
I got enough dust to go around, still deciding on what archetype I want to play though. Not sure if midrange, secret or libram is better
They each have their pros and cons, and a good place to read up on them would be the VS report here: https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-194/
You can't really go too wrong with any of them but since I haven't been playing Paladin this season, I'm out of the loop on which build is the most resilient to nerfs. That's commentary I leave for others who are potentially reading this.
How long does the welcome back bundle last for
Is it safe to craft decks to climb now? (Next month obviously)
Probably, although it seems paladin is on track to get hit with another nerf at some point, so be wary of that
When do we expect the nerfs to come in?
Well theres a BG patch coming next week so... id say 1-2 weeks after that
Is the 2.5k XP weekly quest obtainable by rerolling other weeklies, or do you get a maximum one per week (the guaranteed one every Monday)? I've been leaving a single weekly unfinished on Monday and rerolling it until Sunday, but haven't been able to get it. Just wondering if I'm wasting my time trying to get the 2.5k XP.
Nope, it was possible before however it was a bug and its been fixed
When is the next card expansion and how long is the duration between two expansions? Asking because i want to know when the Battleground perks reset.
Started playing battlegrounds recently after havng some streamers on in the background for a while (so already knew some stuff). It's going pretty good so far and i'm already up to like 6.8k, but i feel like only being able to choose between 2 heroes is a noticeable disadvantage. On the other hand i dont want to spend 2000 gold just for it to reset shortly after (still have to grind a bit before i even have that anyways).
Generally there are 4 months between expansions. As forged in the barrens released in April, you'll still have 3 months, give or take, to use the battlegrounds perks.
Thanks! Glad to hear theres still a decent amount of time left if I'd buy now. Guess I'll have to grind the last bit of gold I am missing over the weekend. Maybe actually by playing the regular game for quests
What's the best way to recover from tilt after a bad game?
Here is a classic game where I missed lethal (I didn't notice until watching replay) and made a crucial misplay early on. I coined -> auctioneer. I was thinking that I didn't want to overdraw but I would have ended with 9 cards in my hand if I coined.

Hey, I wanted to ask if anybody knows a website, which has suggestions for strong decks? (In my case demon hunter)
I’m not a pro so I would like to learn more by using effective decks
Website that tracks legend decks and where he got the deck from so you can see the stats behind it
Hi, as a returning player is the darkmoon miniset worth it? I already have a couple of cards from the packs. Or should i spend that gold on the new expansion packs
Its hard to recommned, on one hand its the best raw deal for gold in the game, but on the other hand all the legendaries arent key in decks so if you happen to even get 1 legendary out of a pack you do want, then the miniset is worse off. Most of the good cards from the miniset are cheap and its easier to just craft them/open a few packs from darkmoon faire thanks to dupe protection
Hello. I haven't played the game for a few years. Does anyone know where I can find information for good deck options for a returning player? Just need a general resource of good cards and budget/decent decks to get my feet wet again with each class. I've never tried the Demon Hunter at all so that'll be interesting.
Any help I'd appreciate. I look at a few deck building websites and other than what is top in the meta deck wise at the moment, I couldn't find good info about "heres a bunch of decks that are cheap or quick to build and are reliable for standard".
just got back into HS. I left after Boomsday. I had to claim a lot of these new achievement thing they added. What are these new gold coins and what can I do with them?
They’re just for bragging rights, certain achievements for the newest xpac will also grant xp tho
do we have any estimate on when the mini set is being released?
when does the ranked season end, on 30th of april?
The Mini set would be expected to release about 2 months after the expansion did, so end of May or beginning of June.
Ranked Seasons always end on the last day of the month, so yeah: tomorrow is the last day.
What is up with this apprentice nonsense. I cant edit my decks, dont have some of the heroes, and i have to fight through 40 ranks of netdecks just to play the game? jesus christ lol
>I cant edit my decks
Are you sure about it? I was in apprenticeship earlier this week and I had been editing my decks throughout that period. You would need to level your hero to level 10 to unlock all of the core cards from that class.
>i have to fight through 40 ranks of netdecks
While yes, I agree that there are some people who have fully built out Tier 1 decks, there are still a lot more people who do not have a tier 1 or tier 2 deck. A lot of the people I faced in those ranks built out budget decks and did fairly well with them. I'd suggest you look at the cheaper varieties of Face Hunter as Hunter is one of the best classes to get out Apprenticeship with as a lot of new players do not know how to deal with aggro.
And I know that the community has mixed feelings about those 40 ranks but those ranks offer A LOT of packs for people who are starting out. I have played other card games before so I felt a lot more comfortable learning about the different classes and different cards that are in this game. Apprenticeship is pretty chill. You'll get your wins and get out soon enough.
I believe you have to get all classes leveled up to get access to the core set. As far as creating decks, you should be able to create and save multiple decks. To delete a deck, go into your collection and select a deck from the area on the right. This should bring up the list of 30 cards, and will automatically sort your collection by whatever class your deck is, as well as the nuetral cards. If you select the name of your deck, it will bring up a bunch of options including "rename deck" and "delete deck"
I'm guessing you messed around quite a bit in the deck builder and filled all of the available deck slots. You can only save 27 decks at a time.
No it doesn’t let you delete decks until you unlock everything.
I am in the midst of watching trumps f2p series on YouTube, and he was able to create and delete decks throughout the apprentice ranks. It might be that you need to get every class to lvl 10 though.
I’m looking at my collection now, it says “you can’t delete a deck until all classes are unlocked”
>it’s fucking stupid you can’t make new decks and you can’t delete them
Ah I believe for that you have to unlock all the classes. I think you can go to "solo adventures" and from there fight against all the classes and be done with it. The other way is to fight them in ranked and defeat them. For demon hunter, you have to head to his mission and finish the 4 matches. After you unlock everything, you can delete stuff and the max number of decks you can have is 27.
Ah. I’ll hit the solos then. I’ve been waiting to see the other classes on ladder unsuccessfully
Trust me, I understand how you feel. At one point, Apprenticeship for me just meant facing demon hunter on repeat. But just try and finish apprenticeship so you can get the premade deck of your choice.
I get a deck when I finish apprenticeship? Interesting!
Yeah you do. You can see [here](https://outof.cards/hearthstone/guides/3-what-are-the-free-hearthstone-decks-for-new-and-returning-players-decklists/) what each of these decks have in them and then make an informed decision.
Personally, I went for the Libram Paladin deck, not because I wanted to play that deck in particular but because I needed some of the cards from that deck to make a Secret Paladin deck.
Oh damn I made my account last year so I’ve definitely logged in since April 2020
but if you're a new account you'll get the new deck after finishing the 40 ranks regardless. I just did, now I can't decide which deck to get haha
Severe noob here. What is “net decking”?
Copying a deck that you found online, like on hsreplay.net or the like
Ah. Thank you. Some guy I just barely beat sent me a friend request just to call me retarded and accuse me of this, and I was very confused.
Lol pay them no mind, enjoy sending back a witty reply if you feel like it. More often than not they have also stolen a deck
I didn’t even use a stolen deck, I’m just a somewhat new player trying to build a mage deck that benefits from my spells with extra effects if I don’t have any minions in my deck. I’m just really limited in my choice of cards.
As u/koolhallah said, just ignore. You'll find salty players everywhere. And whether or not people like to admit it, the truth is that a lot of people like to search up "the best decks" on the internet and build them out. So you do as you wish; as long as you have fun, its great!
using the net deck service
Thank you for your extremely informative comment. What is that?
what could be extremely informative for you in my opinion is to look up hearthstone netdeck to have a better understanding.
I did, and while there’s a lot of discussion around it, nobody outright defined it, so I didn’t understand what it was
maybe chill on the sarcasm next time and ask "could you expand on that?" maybe you'll get info you are looking for
It tracks your deck and the deck of an opponent also while giving you win rates on what you have been playing and what you play against, sometimes it can help with mulligans
Aren't you describing a deck tracker instead of "net decking"?
My understanding of net decking is using the net deck tracking tool to anticipate your opponent and keep track of what you have left and what has been played
Your understanding of net decking is wrong
if netdecking is copying a deck from a tracker site or a meta list I like the my definition better
This is the report most people use for their weekly meta updates.
Hello I’m a returning player, made a cheap face hunter and I’m broke as hell. Wanted to make a fun deck with yogg but no dust :/ I don’t got nothing to dust
Honestly keeping up with the reward track works, i haven't spent money on the game in a couple years and I'm doing fine
Returning player here, do the "year" packs like the year of the Phoenix packs have a pity timer to them? I'm not seeing any good answers anywhere.
They do have a pity timer at 40 packs for a legendary and 10 for an epic, they do NOT have the pity timer of a legendary in the first 10 packs
are we no longer able to play the blackrock mountain adventure? I'm a returning player and wanted to go back and finish it. I remember I had at least the first part, I think.
If you owned any of it then it should be under solo adventure, otherwise you can find it at the battlenet store online where you have to pay real money for it.
do you still get a free legendary when you hit legend for the first time? what set does it come from now that the core set legendaries are free?
You get most recent expansion legendary, so Barrens in this case.
I'm posting here cuz I dont fully understood what happend in the latest update. I logged in today to check on my account ( I used to play a lot back in the day and had multiple full gold decks from the original set ), to my surprise quite a few of my golden legendarys have disappeard? The ones I have noticed this far is my golden rag, sylvanas, cairne and malygos. Why is this? Has the golden version of these cards moved to some sort of progression based system or why has my cards disappeard? (also a sidenote, if they were gonna remove my golden cards, couldn't they at least have given me the non-golden version of them so I could still play with them?)
Your Golden Rag, Sylvanas, Cairne and Malygos are in Classic tab in card collection.
they're not :/
Okay I'll give it a shot at explaining.
Firstly, know that Hearthstone has 3 ladder modes: Standard, Wild, and Classic. Standard is the default displayed mode and used to include Classic, Basic, and the most recent 2 years of expansions. So what did this update do? It introduced the Core set, which replaces the old Basic and Classic sets in Standard. These are free loaner cards earned by leveling up your heroes and the contents will change every year, in order to keep the game fresh. Do note that because they are loaned to players, you cannot disenchant these. There are some cards that overlap with the old Classic/Basic cards that you're already familiar with but the ones that aren't also part of the Core set would've rotated to Wild.
Okay so where are the cards that you already owned prior to this update? Since by default the collection screen is filtered for the Standard mode you need to change your filtering for Wild or Classic. If you did in fact own those cards by purchasing them with money or opening them in packs, doing that will likely have them show up for you again. If you had cards from other expansions, then filtering for Wild should have them show up again.
Now if you have them and want to play with them, once again the 2 modes available for you to use them in are Wild and Classic. Wild is the format where all cards ever printed exist. Because of the power level of subsequent expansions, your old cards might not necessarily be strong enough, even if they are eligible. Classic on the other hand is the format where you can relive the past and play the game as it were in 2014 - with only Classic and Basic cards. In this format, if your cards were meta before, then they might still be relevant.
Hi I hope I’m posting this in the right place. I just got out of apprentice mode and now I’m in bronze. It’s extremely difficult to win a game I’m getting totally thrashed. So I went to HS. Net and copied a few different decks that I had cards for. A little better but how come there’s not enough draw card options? Most of the decks are like, I’m sitting there with one card while the mage is killing me with spells and a full hand of cards? Face hunter is one like that. So my other question in general is how can I get cards ? I bought the barrens pack and the new starter pack.
Unfortunately card draw for Hearthstone is tied to class identity. Some classes naturally have more card draw options printed for them than others. On the other hand, some decks don't include much card draw in the first place based on their playstyle. Face Hunter is one of those decks and you need to be quite aggressive in your play style with Face Hunter (hence the name). The deck is built in a way to maximize early game efficiency at th expense of card draw. You're meant to attack early on before your opponent can respond because you're going to run out of cards.
In terms of getting more cards, it's really mostly just opening more packs. For specific cards, you can disenchant unwanted or extra cards for Dust and use it to craft specific cards you want with it. Right now the sets that are available in Standard for another year are: Ashes of Outlands, Scholomance Academy, Darkmoon Faire, and Darkmoon Races. Barrens will be eligible for another 2 years so you'll get a bit more mileage out of them.
Thanks for answering my post. I’m pretty disheartened right now as I am being paired up with people who have cards like Priest who can summon up a 10/10 copy of a minion. When stuff like that happens I don’t even want to say well played I’m just a sitting duck. I must be missing something. When I was in apprentice it seemed like most were evenly matched.
I came back to HS recently and it sucked at first. I was in the same boat as you, where my opponent would play several legendary cards, and I felt like i just couldn’t do anything while initially working through bronze level. I splurged and bought the Barens pre-order set of packs, and the XP bonus, and that gave me enough cards that I can practice my skills without dying to every player I come across. I’m not big on in-app spending, but it was 100% worth it to bulk up my collection. Now I have 20-25 out of 30 cards for most of the pre-made deck recipes you can pick, and I’ve made it to silver level 5 which was really exciting for me!
TL;DR: Have patience and focus on learning. We don't become good players without some effort.
Right off the bat you should know that we're not meant to win every game. 60% winrate is already very competitive. Winning 6 out of 10 games doesn't seem like much, but it's a marathon not a sprint. At early ranks there are mechanisms in place that will still help you move forward even if you don't reach that 60% winrate. Some games you just lose, and that's okay!
It definitely can be a disheartening at the beginning, but I think this is best solved with game knowledge. Over time you'll learn to recognize that even if your opponent has a strong looking deck, if they are still at a relatively low rank, it means they are playing it poorly. Don't worry too much about what your opponents have, focus on maximizing what you can do with your own collection. You can however take advantage of the fact that they're probably playing a very common decklist and you can easily look up what they have in their deck and take advantage of their predictability. Learn what their deck's goals and weaknesses are.
Why do we play Hunter? We play it to beat Warlocks and suboptimal decks that are common at lower ranks. You are also a glass cannon meant to take advantage of people who make poor choices - this means building your knowledge is even more important! Now flip it around: What beats Hunter? Priest is a poor matchup for Hunter, so don't take your loss too hard. If rock is the most common choice, are we going to going to succeed by playing scissors? Not really, but sometimes we don't have a choice, so don't worry!
And then we get down to the match strategy itself. As a hunter, you're generally the aggressor in most matchups. That means the onus is on your opponent to answer your board. Ask yourself, why is your opponent getting to 6-8 mana to play idol of Y'shaarj? Are you wasting too much damage dealing with non-threats? Are you being efficient with your mana and damage each turn? You can't afford to go into the long game, so are you holding back your resources when your opponent seems to be setting up for a clear? Sometimes being overly safe isn't the right play and you just have to take the gamble that your opponent doesn't have the one card that beats you.
All this wall of text points to is that the game can be a bit more complex than people let on. You might read people memeing on aggro decks, but there's actually a whole lot more nuance to it. Be patient, focus on improving yourself and remember to have fun.
Hi thanks so much for taking the time to answer. I took your advice and have been winning a bunch of games. That is with hunter , to be really aggressive in the beginning. The one problem I am still having though is basically the same one. Opponents have a way to add to their cards in their hand and by the time they play these minions they come out at 7/8 10/11 etc. I don’t have any cards or spells that add that much to a minion in my hand. Please tell me if you know where I can get cards like that. I don’t mind spending but I don’t know what to buy.
Honestly that's just the nature of Aggro decks like Hunter. You'll run out of cards and you generally lose if there's too much heal or taunt. You're usually not going to be able to deal with those big minions, that's why you push as much damage as possible as early as possible. Remember to use spells, rush, and weapons to deal with minions when possible so you can get that repetitive damage in. Make sure to be weaving in your hero power if it's a matchup with lots of healing.
I saw this thread a few days ago, maybe you can try reaching out to him to see if you can learn a bit more about the deck specifically, more than you would learn from me who doesn't play it as much:
Playing a meta face hunter deck, I just lost to a warlock. Was there anything I could have done differently or did I just get unlucky with my cards? [Dubbidubz vs. i124Q - HSReplay.net](https://hsreplay.net/replay/gaujDqsFWkjHi3uq35v2jG)
Turn 2- Using your weapon instead of playing Volpertinger and Tour Guide is a mistake.
Put Kolkar Packrunner, Mankrik and Kodobane into you deck. Tour Guide, Scrap Shot out.
Yeah, been considering that. Just don't own kodobane. Will try it out once I get it.
I'm not a face hunter pro so just my observations here:
The build of Warlock he was running is more favoured compared to the one build that was common last week. I think it turns a 41% matchup for him to a 55% matchup. This one has Void Drinkers to improve the matchup, which you might notice he kept in his mulligan. Having to sink 8 damage into that Void Drinker made it difficult to close the game in time.
I guess one thing I noticed was the Axe on 2 instead of a Hero Power or using your other cards. Can I ask what your reasoning was for playing it on 2 mana instead of your other options? I'm not here to judge, it's just a good exercise for yourself to practice talking through your plays (even if it's to yourself or writing it down on a notepad). I feel like you could've dealt more damage over time if you saved that for later (notice on turn 4 your floated 2 mana). I'm not entirely sure if it was an optimal keep either because judging from free HSReplay stats, it seems like a lower priority card. I don't have access to the matchup-specific data though so someone else might be able to weigh in on that. Since Warlock isn't currently a deck that runs early 2 health minions, my intuition is that you don't necessarily need it to as weapons tend to be used for board control when drawn early. I'm also thinking that you don't keep axe unless you have a 1-drop beast to play along with it.
Hey, thanks for the helpful tips. I didn't realize that I wouldn't get the increased durability, due to felmaw not being a beast. Beginner's mistake. I thought being able to deal 2 damage for the next three turns would be helpful. But it makes more sense to get many minions on the board early. Good to know about this warlock being relatively more favorable against hunter. Fortunately I've been destroying silver level no minions mages :)
No problem! Also worth noting that Felmaw was also still Dormant, so even if it were a Beast the game wouldn't consider it on the board and you would not have gotten an extra durability.
Haha thanks for that knowledge. Part of the reason I played the weapon was to test that, not considering Felmaw is a demon.
Pulled both rogue legendaries any good rogue decks using them rn?
Not really. Kazakus is currently a better option than Scabbs, and Helbrim has been cut from Poison Rogue lists for a while now.
But I guess you could try playing Helbrim there, though no idea where to put Scabbs, unless you want to replace Kazakus with him.
Im at level 43 of the rewards track. Is it worth it to buy the pass assuming I have enough time to finish it before it ends? Really want the gold.
I dont think so, unless you are planning to really up your play time. The bonuses dont stack, so it maxs out at 20% extra xp. You would have to play a lot to get more than 2000 gold out of it.
If you want the skins and stuff, go for it.
You can reach level 100 just by doing every quest you get. It's more than enough, even without the pass, and even if you only get 900xp quests (and you'll get even further thanks to the play time it took to complete those quests).
Not a newbie, previously legend during galakrond days. Made it to plat 10 in about 12 games because of star bonus. On a 36 game losing streak because I can't beat meta decks against good players because I don't have cards because I can't complete quests because I can't win games. The only way I can play now is arena, which gets old. What is the actual plan for someone in my position that isn't dust my entire collection lol
What decks you are having issues with? [Here](https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-193/) you may find what works well against them.
[Gibberling Token Druid](https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/decks/gibberling-token-druid-4/) may be your best bet for now, it's cheap, solid T2 at 1k legend, and can scam plenty of games. If your issue is Paladin, then [Secret Rogue](https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/decks/sparkjoy-secret-rogue-3/) or [Rush Warrior](https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/decks/reload-rush-warrior/) are your best friends, but they are considerably more expensive (and at that point you might as well craft [any](https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/decks/authority-secret-paladin/) [Paladin](https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/decks/kings-aggro-paladin/) [deck](https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/decks/secret-libram-paladin-3/), as they are cheaper and have better match ups).
So IMO, your options are:
* Play at a different hour, you may find people playing other decks.
* Play Gibberling Token Druid, you may need to dust some cards, but not *that* many.
* Play Wild, you should be able to win some games at lower ranks for the quests.
* Play Arena until you can craft a good deck.
* ~~Play the Credit Card.~~
Ending up dusting some golden legends I had from the classic set and crafting control priest and its been much easier to push. I swear though, that star bonus is punishing if you dont own the cards to continue after a milestone.
These are the best I've got for you right now, still working on finding the good ways to build budget decks in this meta.
I've played my own budget decks to Legend in every expansion for the past couple of years.
play casual or even better casual wild
