Am I making any clear misplays [here](https://hsreplay.net/replay/MEKcNodESZh27Mgdgxhitf)?
can someone explain to me the interaction between a zero cost mo'rag artificer that gets copied with felosophy? if i have two zero cost mo'rags which one should i play first?
If you get it from skull, the moarg actually costs 0 and copying it makes the copy cost 0 as well.
If you have the discount from raging felscreamer, the moarg still costs 2 in reality, so copying will get you another 2 cost moarg. The first one of these will cost 0 because of the discount, but the next one won't have the discount and go back up to 2 mana.
Simple question - when to hit the octobot. Sometimes I have coin and it seems like I should trigger the frenzy whilst they have minimal cards in hand but I never know if this is a good idea with the possibility of shadow steps etc. What is the best way to handle octo?? Any help would be awesome (playing at legend rank around 2.5k so one mistake can result in about 50 cards being drawn the following turn :( )
Trigger it when you can. As a rogue, I have literally never once shadow stepped my octobots. In almost every matchup, you need every shadowstep you can get for jandice/kazakus/Alex.
Thanks for the info 🙂
Are you supposed to aways go face while playing face hunter? What minions and when should I trade?why? Do I have a higher chance to win trying to speedrun the win?
Almost always. Keep in mind that most opponents will trade with you instead of going face, so often after going face your opponent will make the trade you were considering for you.
The main exceptions are critical minions that have to be destroyed (like Tasmin Roame), when there's a situation where taking out one of his minions will prevent him from making a great value trade, minions that might be dangerously buffed (i.e. priests or token druid), and in the mirror matchup where you fight like heck for the board. Even in those situations, you try to deal with it with a piercing shot or a rhino if you can.
No one can really answer this because it always depends on the board state.. what class your playing against. Etc.. sometimes it's a gamble and you can either go face and hope they don't have an answer or you can trade and end up losing by just a small amount.. I would say to make favorable trades where you don't lose damage or lose control of the board..
I just got OTK’d by a demon Hunter for 16 and I’m not sure what just happened. He did 16 damage to his minions and all of a sudden I KO’d. Does anybody know what combo that is?
It’s pretty much the only viable OTK in standard.
Illygnoth changes lifesteal to damage the enemy hero. They get a bunch of spell damage, and moargs to increase the damage of your lifesteal spells.
They can do over 100 damage in a turn if they get lucky.
Ahh thanks, I’ll look those cards up. Thanks
Anyway you get killed just as well by Jaraxxus value so don't get too stuck on tikatus being the only problem.
Those sound like normal odds, considering that Warlock hard mulligans for it against Priest.
And they draw a bunch of cards. Odds of them *not* having it have to be small.
Why do I lose two charges of bulwark when hitting a minion?
1 durability used for attacking (like any other weapon)
1 durability used preventing damage
Though I think of you only have 1 durability left and attack a minion it'll still protect you (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)
Im an idiot, thanks
Dumb question here - anyone know how to complete the yoink achievement? I've yoinked 9/10 hero powers and the last one is rogue. Do I need to yoink while I'm yoinked with a non-rogue power to stand a chance of being offered the rogue power? Any tips on how to increase my chances of getting it?
Got it. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.
Ended up running a galakrond rogue with 2 x yoink, grizzled wizard, finley and a bunch of draw. Had a few games of getting bmed by tryhard decks who were delighted by the free win from this hot mess of a deck, but it did the job getting the quest done. Just a thought, but odd rogue would probably work as well, given that you can run your yoinks and your hp automatically changes on turn 1.
Double yoink works, but took me 7 or 8 tries because I kept missing the 33% chance :/
You can add wandmakers (and step them) to generate more yoinks.
Yeah, you just need to play yoink while you're yoinked and pray. Also I think using Finley while yoinked would also work.
Theoretically Yoinking after Yoinking should work, but honestly I don't know about this one...
But you can definitely try Wild - there's this "Wizard" that swaps hero powers, or Sir Finley (League of Explorers) lets you find different HP - that should help :)
Aha, grizzled wizard, never thought of that. Thanks man, I'll give it a go.
I haven’t looked into the achievement, (so idk if this can be done against a friend), but I’m thinking that playing as a Priest and using Illucia against a rogue with a Yoink! In hand could work. Anything that gains copied of a card in your Rogue opponent’s hand/deck
Thanks mate. Good suggestion - shame I don't have illucia :(
I crafted the necessary epics for the Secret Libram Paladin deck on VS. However, I don’t have blademaster samuro or Cariel Roame. How essential are those 2 to the deck? Any suggestions on what to replace them with?
If you have neither, use Kazakus instead, but your winrate will suffer. Cariel is the more important of the two in that deck.
I think Samuro more so than Cariel.
Since you're getting most expensive holy spells discounted through the Libram discounts anyway, she's less necessary.
Samuro can win back board on occasion and Paladin typically doesn't win if it doesn't have board.
Honestly, a Fishy Flyer might not be a terrible replacement for Cariel. Not sure.
Samuro doesn't really have a replacement.
Yeah Samuro is basically the only way you have to come back onto the board. Not really replaceable. Bright side he's one of the safest crafts of the set.
Did anyone catch that European grandmasters game a few hours ago between Control Warrior and OTK Demon Hunter?
I’m trying to remember the players, but I (and the casters) thought the OTK Demon Hunter threw the game at the end because he thought the Bulwark of Azzinoth would’ve stopped his Il’gynoth turn, but the Bulwark had two charges and he still had a swing left on his Aldratchi Warblades, which should (?) count for two separate hits with weapon damage and redirected lifesteal. He had the combo in hand to deal lethal with the Bulwark destroyed, but he conceded.
Or maybe that’s not how the interaction works? I swear he threw the game.
I don’t think he had lethal. Ilgynoth turns your lifesteal healing into damage. Lifesteal is based on the damage you do.
If you attack with war blades into Bulwark, you’re not actually doing damage that would normally get converted to lifesteal. The Bulwark PREVENTS the damage and then removes one durability.
tl:dr; you don’t damage the bulwark when you attack face, so lifesteal doesn’t proc.
I have been playing this deck and I can confirm blades with il’gnoth only takes 1 charge off bulwark. I tried this exact thing once bc I didn’t have any other way and you are correct
Holyyyy crap that makes so much sense.
I think this was the last game in APAC today actually. Was cheonsu vs Tom.
Any of the „battle-ready“ decks worth getting? Any that are viable with minimum modification?
Rogue or warrior are probably the closest to "meta/viable".
I personally got the Rogue deck because I wanted to try Secret rogue. IIRC, it also shares cards with Miracle Rogue as well.
The rogue deck imo is the best one, requires pretty much no modifications, and if you craft a few commons you can also play miracle with those cards
Depends on your collection - if you have none, then they are definitely worth getting.
They're all pretty decent (considered the Class restrictions - I'm looking at you, Shaman :) ). The only exception would probably be Mage, becuase Battle Ready Mage wouldn't have sufficient Dust value compared to others.
EDIT: HS Top decks had an article on this topic too, you might chech that too (but keep in mind it's before the recent nefs!)
Is the N'Zoth variant of Miracle Rogue doing better than the classic one?
I haven’t even heard of it, what is the list? It’s highly unlikely it’s better imo but I’m curious to see the list
I saw it here: [https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/decks/nzoth-miracle-rogue-1-legend-zyrios-the-barrens/](https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/decks/nzoth-miracle-rogue-1-legend-zyrios-the-barrens/)
Then I ran into like 3 of them lol
is moonfang worth crafting ? i dont play hunter or druid
Uuuh I'm no expert but I'd say no. I only got him because of the mini-set bundlet.
ah okay. thanks man.
Pretty sweet list, I can definitely see why this might work in high legend because you can go ultra greedy and play like 4 nzoth against priests and control warrior. Def worse against aggro
I've been trying it out since I asked this and went 13-6 (D5 to D3), lost mostly against face hunter and poison rogue. But it seems to shine against spell mage, control warr and lock. Also 3/3 vs pally which is nice.
The synergies fun too, I'd never played a menagerie deck and I had N'Zoth sitting around in my collection since last year.
Looks little... clunky... but if it's better than current Miracle/Secret Rogue, I'm pretty sure we will find it out with next VS Report :)
EDIT: "too greedy" is better descrption, not "clunky", sorry
About star bonus: if i hit legendary will i be having 10star bonus perpetually? Or just next season?
Guaranteed next season only. If your hidden MMR stays above an (unknown) level, you could keep the 10 star bonus even without making legend the following month.
Thanks. I got 9s bonus even i on break for few months, i thought i the bonus is a perpetual thing.
If i am in dumpster legendary am i guaranteed 10s?
Yes. If you make it to dumpster legend you are guaranteed 10 stars next season
How do I beat stupid aggro decks like face hunter and poison rogue with circus druid, I swear every other match up feels easy besides maybe Warlock but I cant keep up with any of these decks unless I draw perfect curve
Switch to a deck that actually plays stuff before turn 5.
don’t expect to beat face hunter unless you highroll—they are just too fast for clown druid to compete. Poison rogue on the other hand is winnable, although it can mean playing uncorrupted clowns, but in general, the way to beat poison rogue is to put up enough board presence so that they must respond, and you could consider running teacher’s pets if you want to help some of these matchups
What about spell mage? Such a ridiculous deck
spell mage is another one of those winnable but around even matchups—be wary of devolving missiles on strongmen since they devolve to 0 cost minions, and don’t be afraid to tempo clowns when necessary since survival of the fittest is sometimes too slow, but overall the playrate of spell mage should decline as time goes on since it turns out the spring water nerf hit the deck pretty hard
There has been some discussion between Darkspear Berserker or Fishy Flyer in Deathrattle DH. I thought "why not both" and cut one Chaos Strike and one Performer from the VS list to fit them both in. I like the Berserkers very much so far, they are a threat that not many decks can cleanly deal with on curve and they regularly deal 10 to 15 face damage. They also make Blackthorn a lot scarier, especially together with the Fishy Flyers (that more often than not just deal their 4 damage and die, leaving you with a pretty weak board otherwise).
The deathrattle hasn't been a liability so far, especially with the weapon package w/ Aldrachi Warblades. But I think even if you lose a few matches because of it, the Berserkers win more games than lose them.
Has anyone else tried this out? What have been your experiences?
Performer is 10000 times better than fishy flyer in terms of tempo. I personally hate Berserker and I don’t think DRDH needs to cheat out a 5/7 body in order to win games. I would much rather rely on something like a Felsteel Executioner to cheat mana.
How to pilot Gibberling Druid? I feel like /r/Hearthstone 's T2 screenshots are bait and Gibberling often feels too weak for the number of cards used early.
Also, what are my mulligan priorities? Fungal Fortunes and Glowfly?
A lot of the APAC grandmasters play it, so you can watch the VODs on YouTube.
Gibberling - coin/innervate - Adorable/Nature's studies - something - and you got yourself pretty good board since Turn 1 ... and it's not even that uncommon (I recall having hand like this in about 1/5th of the matches) Don't underestimate power of a lot of 1/1s on Turn 1! (neither as pilot, nor as an oponent)
But if you don't hit Gibberling on T1, just give up on that and run for hand full of spells, Glows - Arbor up :)
There was a guide here a bit ago which is still applicable:
You generally don’t want to do a turn 1 gibberling unless you can buff the board and you are fairly confident they can’t clear it.
Hi! I recently started playing control priest, and I'm facing lots of no minion mages. I know that this is a bad matchup, but I have no idea how to play against them. What should I mulligan for, and how should I play to have the best chance of winning? I'm currently running the most recent VS list with 2 SW: Death instead of Illucia.
Also, I heard that this deck has quite a high skill cap, so I'd like to get better. Does anyone know any content creators who play this deck or any guides/other recources that could help me learn?
Use your high health minions to soak up the damage of Masks. Remember, they can’t burst you down if you have a lot of threats on board!
Switch illucia back in, she’s great against mages, wait until they have played a few incantors flows and play her to waste all their burn
Good point. I don't have Illucia, but maybe I'll craft her after we see how the miniset affects the meta.
Assuming you’re playing the giants version (can’t check vs atm) Nohandsgamer had a guide recently on YouTube.
Yep, that's the one. I'll check it out. Thanks!
How does Sparkjoy cheat decide which secret to cast? Say you have 2 secrets in hand, is it just random or by hand order or…?
Also for duels why are some cards missing? For example the rogue ambush secret, hanar is not there but the other secrets are. And unlike Lightning Bloom it does not say banned either.
On your other question, duels only allow specific sets. As of now, it only allow a couple of standard sets and wild sets. Ashes of Outland is not one of those sets
\- If you have more than one Secret in hand, the one played is chosen at random.
I recommend checking obvious sources first :)
No need to be rude they were just asking a question :)
Do you think it was rude? I was just pointing out Wiki usually has most of the answers people are looking for... and Vicious Syndiate too, shame not many people know about that apparently, considered how often we point people there :)
But hey, googling "Sparkjoy Cheat" is the least person can do before making a post here, right...
This person is in the ask competitivehs thread. A thread specifically for asking hearthstone related questions, and discussing said questions. IF they are like me and frequent this thread, then this would be a good or better first place to look and ask.
Well then, I guess some prefer to give fish, some prefer to teach fishing :)
Not everyone assumes the answer must be somewhere else.
You blamed the person for not knowing it beforehand. A nice teacher for sure!
I think that sharing resources is great! But it’s important to keep tone in mind. The final sentence in your original comment sounded snarky/condescending (a theme present in many of your other comments on this sub). I don’t think you’re trying to be inflammatory, but please be aware of how you speak to others. It’s okay, misinterpretations happen, but it would help if you accepted a smidge of responsibility instead of claiming to “teach fishing”. Cheers
Well, I mean - it should be obvious to use Google/HS Wiki first before asking something, don't you think :) ?
That being said - you are right, I'm usually not good in using EN; since you've been throughrough and went through more of my comments, you probably noted a lot of grammar/spelling mistakes. This is amplified by the fact I prefer "results to form", so... yes, I agree some of my comments might look "not nice", but I don't feel the necessity to do so... if I would think someone is an idiot, I would write it... but it's not worth it, so... yeah, that's it :)
I shall keep that in mind for future cases, have a happy weekend, mate :)
>comment sounded snarky/condescending (a theme present in many of your other comments on this sub)
Can confirm that I also have noticed Ookami's tone being relatively negative/snarky/hostile in most of his responses/replies.
Can someone share what are the best compositions (and even hero compositions) right now?
Especially if someone as hsreplay tier 7 data?
